Colonel William Salmon Mills, formerly of Prncess Louise's Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, who died on the 29th November 1893. Erected by past and present officers of the regt." Lieut Col. Mills served in the Zulu War.

"Mills, William Salmon. Ensign, 31st January, 1863. Served with the regiment in India. Lieutenant, 10th April, 1866 ; captain, 24th September, 1873. Served in the Zulu War, 1879 ; was present at the battle of Ginginhlovo, relief of Ekowe, and subsequent operations (medal with clasp)Commanded a detachment of the regiment at St. Helena in 1880-81."

I think Isandula has a photo of Mills ? . From Mack & Shad , not a lot to add , Capt W.S.Mills was invalided to Durban in April and May , rejoined HD-QTRS in July . 90th .

MILLS, William Salmon, of the Junior Army and Navy club, St. James, Middlesex, retired lieutenant-colonel in the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders, died 29 November 1898, at the "Priory" Swanley, Kent, Probate London 27 May, to William Burton Saville Mills, engineer, and Elizabeth Janet Johnstone, spinster. Effects £13,024 4s. 5d.
