Here's a question, which I know someone will be able to answer.
There seems to been more Photographs available of the Crimean War 1853 –1856 than there is of the Anglo Zulu War 1879. Why’s that do you think? Someone told me photography was at its early stages. But the Crimean was well before the Zulu War.

Hi ctsg. I think it would have been easier to get to the crimea as opposed to Sth Africa , also the Crimean War was a war with full on European involvement and the Sth African zulu war was seen as no more than being a skirmish against a bunch of savages which no one actually cared about . Also the zulu war was started basically by Chelmsford and Frere who acted against the wishes of the British Govt who had stressed there was to be no war . The British govt were worried about the Russians and when those in Sth Africa asked for re - enforcements before the war started they were declined . cheers 90th.
