Hi

I'm trying to establish whether a George Purvis shown in Aldershot 1871 Census as being in the Regiment of 94th Foot & 45th Depot Foot is one and the same ancestor of mine who was born in Scotland about 1840.

My George was married to Elizabeth Duffus and died in April 1874 as shown on his youngest son's (Adam) birth certificate of Nov 1874. George was shown as a Steamship Engineer on this son's birth certificate. I can't find a death certificate in Scotland for George and it looks like he has not died in his native Scotland.

Does anyone have access to the Regimental records between 1871 (the census) and 1874 (the date of George's death)? Any further suggestions or directions appreciated.

I've found the sight very interesting and will be recommending it to fellow researchers as a source.

Hoping someone can help.
