| William Augustus Lane Fox-Pitt-Rivers born 9 January 1858, ?died 1945, he joined his father’s Regiment and saw active service in Zulu war of 1879 and in Sudan. Reached rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and was his father’s favourite child. Friend of Robert Baden-Powell, of Scouting fame.

| “William Augustus Lane Fox-Pitt was born on 9th January 1858. He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Augustus Henry Fox-Pitt-Rivers and Hon. Alice Margaret Stanley. He married Lily Ethel Payne on 13th April 1893. He was given the name of William Augustus Lane Lane Fox at birth. On 25th May 1880 his name was legally changed to William Augustus Lane Fox-Pitt by Royal Licence.”

| Whatever his name was..... in 1879 he was W.A.Lane - Fox 91st Regt . Lane - Fox joined the Regt , with draft , on April 23rd and served with it to the conclusion of the war , taking part in Crealock's Divis to Port Durnford . From Msc & Shad 90th |
