David Charles Courtney ,was a Major in the Royal Engineers. He served in the Zulu War 1879, and was in Ekowe when it was besieged. He was mentioned in despaches and had the medal and clasp. He also served in the Nile Expedition 1884-5. He was again mentioned in despaches, received the brevet of Major, medal with two clasps and the Khedives star. He married Miss Mann, and they had two sons and five daughters. He died 28th November, 1909.

David Charles Courtney
Date of Birth - 27th January 1845 Died - 28th November 1909 Buried - His grave is situated in Deans Grange Cemetery, Dublin, Eire.
