Lance-Corporal W. Boyd, Cookhouse Town Guard, late Frontier Light Horse and Prince Alfred’s Volunteer Guard. William Boyd was one of 83 men in the Frontier Light Horse to qualify for the “1877-8-9” clasp; one of four in Prince Alfred’s Volunteer Guard to qualify for both the “Transkei” and “Basutoland” clasps, and one of around 100 men awarded the Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902 for services in the Cookhouse Town Guard.

Engagements A , B . C . Those marked '' A '' were engaged against the Gaikas , Galekas & other Kaffir tribes 1877-78. Those Marked '' B '' were engaged against the zulus in 1879 .
