Horses for the infantry officers

Hi

In the British imperial infantry, but not in the imperial mounted infantry,from what grade you could have a horse on the battlefield ?

And there were really horses for all who had the right to an infantry battalion ?

I think you could have any horse you wanted as long as you could afford one.

There must have a minimum grade for the right to a horse, it's lieutenant ?

I think if you where an officer then you could have a horse.
