He commanded the Regiment during the War. Was in command of the advance post at Landman’s Drift. Present at the Battle of Ulundi. (Mentioned in Despatches; C. B.)
Malthus Sydenham (1831 - 1916). Lieutenant-Colonel, 94th Regiment. Commanded the 94th, which arrived in Durban in April 1879 and formed part of the 2nd Division. Built the post and depot at Conference Hill in May, and commanded it until the advance on Ulundi began in June. Subsequently commanded the Regiment when it formed part of Baker Russell’s Column. Present At Ulundi. CB.
