| There is a black and white sketch with a report in Illustrated London News or Graphic. The 2/24th Colours presented at Gibraltar are now in Brecon Cathedral. |

| nice one littlehand, read that account of Chillianwallah many times in the past, the last bit where it says the memorial is at the RHC, reminds me that 2004 found me in london staying with my sister for a few days,my wife had stayed a couple of months before, and as my sister lives in central london i asked my wife to call in at the hospital to ask where the memorial was. well she was given a nice cup of tea by an old soldier in red who she says was very nice, and he informed her that no such memorial existed!
I have lived and worked in london many years ago, but still went down there a couple of times a year, point being, i knew my way around central london, so, i'm in the NAM seeing the fripp and that unbelievable picture which is ulundi, but the memorial was still pecking my head so to cut this shorter, i walked through the gates of the hospital straight down past the residential block and other building's and as i was nearing a right turn which would lead ' a round the back ' i got an excitment in my stomach, so i turned and saw a seen of chaos.. rigger's obviously setting up for a major concert, straight away this man 20 yards away saw me and walked quickly over saying before he reached me, you cant come this way mate, as he was talking i looked over his shoulder and off to the left about a hundred yards away i saw what looked like cleopatra's needle, i'm afraid i just blanked the man and walked over to what was the chillianwallah memorial, made of sandstone it was extremely weathered, but you could easily reed the deeds and names and see the 24th iconog- raphy, i filmed my little bit and walked away feeling very satisfied. |
