Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela We have a nation in Mourning at the passing of a great humanitarian, literally the glue that bound us together 20 years ago. Unashamedly my family cried last night.

As the planet wakes up to the passing of a truly remarkable man, the time for reflection is now! Madiba was his Tribal name, from the xhosa, to look at his face one was constantly reminded of his sans bushmen origin's.
We of a certain age well remember. the struggle of the anc and the way in which mandela came to symbolize that time. i well recall the sense of anticipation and excitement when we watched on tv the culmination of his ' long walk to freedom '. and what did this ' former terrorist ' do?, he promptly reconciled and united south africa.. not bad for a kid from the stick's.

I must say I liked President Obama's use of the phrase attributed to Edwin Stanton relating to the death of Abraham Lincoln of Now he belongs to the ages.
How apt.
The Great Emancipator's passing echoing down the years and applied to the Father of a Nation freed from the shackles of apartheid.
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela rest in peace.

Farewell to a great Xhosa, an African leader, a leader of the world and a marvellous model to all mankind of tolerance, equality, humanity and the highest standards to which all world leaders must try and aspire. If all the world's leaders were like Madiba, the world would be SUCH a better place. Never to be forgotten.

I must say I liked President Obama's use of the phrase attributed to Edwin Stanton relating to the death of Abraham Lincoln of Now he belongs to the ages. well said JY
Although, was not Stanton secretary of war,the irony is not lost! Well said mr president..not so cameron! who's people branded Mandela a terrorist! and he refused an invitation to meet thatcher! even on this sad, but ultimately joyous celebration, one can draw comfort from the fact that his legacy will be rekindled anew!. a bbc news report today from a primary school, showed just how much the average 9 year old is fully aware of the role Mandela held, in respect of the affair's of south africa, and the reconciliation and unification of that wonderful country. its far from perfect, and we pray that the process started by Madiba will continue anew, so that all south africa reaches their goal together.
