Although Ive owned this book for a number of years Ive never got around to reading it. Pretty damned stupid really as its nothing short of brilliant.
No wonder David Rattray was so enamoured with Henry, an incredible man.

Springy mate, is that the vary large book that you mean, or is it some other one?

I have the very large one somewhere, it was however, moved by 'Mrs Shifter' some time back, I had not had it long and decided to take a peek through it. I had put it down to glance through it again later on, however, 'The Shifter' moved it when I went out for a beer or three, but no worries, I will don my Sherlock Holmes Deerstalker, get out my magnifier and Calabash and search for it (elementary my dear Watson).

I'd had the Child book for many year's as so was
well acquainted with Charlie, as springbok say's
he was quite the man..so when the Payne's
announced the forthcoming book i was beside my-
self to get my advanced order in, the book was a
major work and so the usual teething troubles
duly took place..but in the end the book dropped
on the mat, fully signed by Adrian Greaves, David
and Emma, and excitingly Audrey, Harford's grand-
daughter! i read the book from cover to cover over
the course of a couple of day's..excellent! worth
every penny..however..i looked again at the signing
and realised there was no ist ed plate with my ed
num! there was no number at all, so i contacted
the paynes..in fact i pestered Emma a lot and in
the end received my number over the phone! i had
to write it in myself..soi guess nobody got a limited
edition number?.
..and as i speak its all irrelevant as this
book has been discounted so many times! i feel a bit
cheated.

Yep that's the one. Read it mate as 24th says its iconic.
I couldn't put it down his diary entries of the tricks he used to play when he lived on the farm in Natal. The mans modesty and 'stiff upper lip', testimony to a bygone age.
Yep, loved reading it.
Les. Interesting comments, mine was also supposed to be numbered and Ive just noticed the missing number.
Still doesn't detract from the book itself.

I have it but havent read it but glanced through it , many great photos etc etc , still here in europe , home about the 20th may , excellent weather .
