Captain, Louis George Jullien, Raaff's Rangers.

In 1881 Louis George Jullien applied to the Colonial Government for Military employment. In his application he stated that he had 10 years experience on the veldt and was known to Wolesley and also stated he's served as a former Adjutant in the French Army and was a Captain in a Cavalry Regiment with Garibaldi.

I know that during the AZW he was away recruiting in Griqualand West and the Transvaal. He was later in Willoughby's Horse during the Gun War.

My question is, does anyone have any earlier biographical information on him?

I've often thought the same as in in 1878 during the height of the Ninth Frontier War; a man by the name of Jullien was stated to have preformed in Kimberley.

Cam I cant remember the actual story, something to the effect of him being christened after the members of an orchestra.
I must do a search but he could very well be the father of your man.

He could be Frank, I've looked through ancestry.com and there's a few possibilities, but nothing that positively link him to Africa. There are some records in the Pretoria archives that may bring me closer to pinning down a date and place of birth.
