Talk about Henry Martin from Gurney Slade Somerset Empty
PostSubject: Talk about Henry Martin from Gurney Slade Somerset   Talk about Henry Martin from Gurney Slade Somerset EmptyTue Jun 20, 2017 10:00 am

Just to say if anyone is around Binegar/Gurney Slade in Somerset (UK) 15th or 16th July we are holding a celebration weekend to remember our villages Rorke's Drift survivor - we had a few either at Rorke's Drift or in the War itself from our area.

There will be a talk and a small exhibition on both days

We were lucky enough to get Lottery Funding for the event.

It is a repeat of one that was held in the village in 1965 where Stanley Baker's son who was at school locally borrowed a copy of the newly released film Zulu to be shown in the village hall and a memorial cross was put where they thought his unmarked grave was.
The army came out and did a march through the village.

Postcode is BA3 4UB

15th July: 5pm to 7pm
16th July 11am to 3pm, talk 2pm - 3pm
