I want to know who has documentation on this head-dress style for the Zulu regiment Umhlanga

I have conflicting information

bunches of white ostrich feathers or bunches of black ostrich feathers

Hi lesbille

Black AND white ostrich features. The regimental shield was black with white spots.
This was the regiment formed by Mpanda. It was normally comprised 1000 men with an average age of 28.

The ceremonial uniform for the umhlanga regiment is:

Band of leopard skin round the forehead, bunches of black ostrich feathers on front of head, surmonted by several white ostrish feathers ; ear-flaps of green monkey skin; withe bunch of cow-tails suspended from the neck, and handing down chest and back; shields , black with a white spot on the top of the shield, Unlike the Indluyengwe regiment with black shields, with a white spot below ...

A Isandhlwana, this regiment has1.000 warriors (20 amaviyo) after the I.Knight list

A Isandhlwana, it was the extreme right of the Zulu chest ...

more you add an important detail.: the position of the white spot on the upper half of the shield.
on this point I had conflicting information.
several sources give the white spot on the lower part of the shield.

image that gives DAVE related
the figure on the right instead (NOT the left) which is the regimental Umhlanga.
we can see that the shield shows a white spot on the lower half.
you think this is an error. it must be on the upper part of the shield.

Sorry ,It is impossible, there have been two Zulu regiments with the same shields, when they were spotted ...

The spot is below on the inDluyengwe shield, and is well known and the spot is on the top of the shield for the top for umhlanga regiment, and is well known ,again sorry for you Sad
