| The following list for the “South Africa Medal” is comprised of those medals issued to Navy and Marine personnel who served in the Zulu War; and which I have found to still exist. This list is based on medals that I have found for sale or auction, in the possession of private individuals, and those located in the collections of various museum.
Many medals will never be found. There are those that were unclaimed, and returned to Woolwich. Some medals have been lost over the years, including those destroyed during the Blitz in World War Two. Others were interred with their recipients when they died. There are still more that are hidden away in the possession of family members, and one day, hopefully, will become available.
This list is in alphabetical order, by ship, for those that served in the Zulu War. Included at the end of the list is the “Himalaya” for the benefit of those who are interested in medals issued to the men who served on her.
