Edward Duffett served with the Naval Brigade of HMS Active during the 9th Cape Frontier Wars (1877-78) and again in the Zulu War with the rank of Leading Seaman. Entitled to the South Africa Medal with "1877-8-9" clasp. Confirmed on the Medal Roll.

Hi All,
Edward Duffett RN HMS Active, born either 3 Sept 1855 or 18 Oct 1857,Shadbrook Suffolk, both dates appear on his Naval records, but the 1939 register gives the 1857 date. Probably married 1880?, His address Lochnett [Lochnill] 14 Beacon Road, Herne Bay in 1939. He dies 26 Feb 1942 and was buried on the 28th in Herne Bay Cemetery, Plot BB, Grave 88. He appears on the findagrave website but no photo of the grave.
