We are all here to communicate and enjoy the various discussions and information on the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Opinions will vary, you will agree and disagree with one another, we will have debates, and so it goes.
There is no excuse for harassment or bullying of anyone by another person on this site.

| Hi All William Newbury born circa 1854/1859 census give different dates, Maiden Bradley, Warminster, Wiltshire. No.567 99th, 1881 census Le Marchant Barracks Devizes Private, 1891 Devizes married to Elizabeth 5 children he is a Bricklaters Labourer, 1901 census Devizes, 8 Children still BrickL Labourer, Probably Dies Sept Qtr 1935 Devizes District. John Thomas Highman Born Shaftesbury Dorset, attested 25 Feb 1878, to No.493 99th Regt, to S Africa 4 Dec 1878, to 29 Dec 1879, married Alice Watson 12 Sept 1894 St James Trowbridge, LSGC medal 1896, Discharged at Devizes 30 June 1903 25 yrs. 1901 census H>M> Barracks Devizes, 1921 census Devizes, 1939 list gives his age born 15 Jan 1860 a widow in Devizes, He Died 4 April 1942 and was buried with his wife in Devizes Cemetery XA-XC, there is a picture of the Grave on the findagrave website. | Newbury's medal is up for sale on Saleroom at Gardiner Houlgate Auctioneers 19th January estimate £120:- The correct spelling of his surname according to the rolls and medal is Newberry not Newbury as stated in the newspaper articles.
