Brownlies Uncle Royal Marine Light Infantry?

Hi All,
1881 census gives William Brownlie R M L Inf, HMS Northumberland born scotland. all births 1859 for Brownlie relate to the Counyt of Larnackshire.
1901 Census William Brownlie b.1860 scotland Beer Dealer address 16 Charlotte Row Devonport, married to Carrie b.1874 Cornwall son William b.1898 Devon.
William Brownlie Marries Caroline Thomas June Qtr 1895 East Stonehouse Devon.
Cannot be sure that the 1901 census and marriage relate to the Royal Marine but Devonport was a large and still is a Royal Navy Royal Marine Base.
I cannot find any Brownlie's in the Royal Marine Medal Rolls.

William Brownlie was a Private in the Royal Marines Light Infantry. According to his service record he was born in Govan, Lanarkshire, Scotland 16 August 1859. He enlisted at Glasgow 16 August 1877. He was assigned to 39 Company of the Plymouth Division. On 6 June 1879 he was assigned to 8 Company of the Royal Marine Battalion that sailed to South Africa for service in the Zulu War. He later served with the Royal Marine Battalion for Egypt and was awarded the Egypt Medal with "Tel el Kebir" clasp.
