I'm not completetly sure its from the zulu war . It may be a town that has become fortified ?.

My first reaction would be RD. Im pretty sure it is Fort Bromhead.

A collegue has contacted me and yes , it is indeed Fort Bromhead ( R. Drift ) .

Were these fortifications build from scratch, or refurbished exsiting fortifications . Just wondering as the Zulu War lasted months not years.

Hi 24th.
My collegue informs me it is indeed R.D which was reinforced post battle and renamed Ft Bromhead , the old storehouse
building is on the right . Although the details are fairly accurate , the artist has made the enclosed area look bigger than it
actually was .
