I can't find a James Ellis in my lists Tom? Any joy?

Mr. James Ellis held the warrant officer rank of Boatswain when he joined the crew of HMS Tenedos on 26 November 1877. While enroute to the Pacific Station the ships engines broke down and when temporarily repaired the ship was ordered to Simon's Bay for overhaul. "Tenedos" arrived at Simon's Bay on 20 September 1878. On 15 October 1878 Ellis was placed on the sick list for a strain to his back. On 24 October 1878 Ellis was sent to the Naval Hospital ashore at Simon's Bay, and on 25 November 1878 he was invalided back to England aboard the Troopship HMS Tyne. Ellis was replaced by Boatswain George Springall of HMS Tyne. On 20 December 1878 HMS Tenedos arrived at Durban. Ellis' service record confirms that he was discharged from HMS Tenedos as Invalided due to health on 25 November 1878.
Ellis did not serve aboard "Tenedos" at any time that the ship served off the Natal or Zululand coast.
