Can't find any trace in the RA medal rolls. Captain Lowe could mean Colonel Drury Lowe but n/t 17th Lancers medal roll either
And I thought the Prince Imperials horse named Tommy was grey?
I think someone is telling porkies here Rolling Eyes

The P.I did have at least 2 to 3 horses , without looking it up not sure which he was riding on that day , but think it was the Grey .

Well I can't find a Captain Lowe in Mac and Shads.
As Haynes is refering to selling the horse the PI rode on the day that would be Tommy the grey.

Trying to give Haynes the benefit of the doubt he could have sold him a n other horse and he could have been attched to the colonials hence being mounted and being under a Captain Lowe (if there is one in the Colonial listings) though why would he say he was RA?

Looking at the other campaigns he claims to have been in ie Majuba I have checked the other Regiments who were there such as the 2/21st, 58th, 94th and all I can find is a Private 1002 W Haynes no clasp in the 2/21st

I think this story is not right Rolling Eyes

Hi Kate
I didn't think the 2/21 were at Majuba ? , thought the 3/60th were there ? . Anyhow .... had a quick look and there were 2 Co's of the 58th , 2 Co's of the 3/60th , 3 Co's of the 92nd and a Naval Bgde Co.

Morning Gary
There were 6 men from the 2/21st on the mountain that day, two of whom were kia. No men from the 3/60th's on top of the mountain though 1 was taken prisoner and 11 wounded in the defensive action on the ridge below the mountain.
