We are all here to communicate and enjoy the various discussions and information on the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Opinions will vary, you will agree and disagree with one another, we will have debates, and so it goes.
There is no excuse for harassment or bullying of anyone by another person on this site.

| Hi All, James Alexandra [Alexander] McKinley attested 1 Jan 1878 age 19, born 22 March 1859 Augher Tyrone Ireland, Father Henry Mckinley 87th Regt. to 29/816 58th Regt, to S Africa S.S. Russia, 26 Feb 1879, arrived Natal 4 April 1879, Zulu 1st Boer Wars, Ulundi, Laings Nek, Majuba, to St Helena, 30 Sept 1883 Married Hannah Elizabeth Commic on St Helena 17 June 1884, they would have 5 Children the first at the Cape, PMBurg 14 Aug 1884, Cape Town 13 Oct 1884, to Hong Kong 14 Sept 1885, to Permanant Staff 16 Nov 1887, Discharged 14 May 1899, 21 yrs. 1891 census Militia Stores Northampton, He is Col Sgt 4 Batt Northants No.2073, M. Hannah 3 Children, 1901 Census County Offices He is a Caretaker, M. Hannah 5 kids, 1911 Census 90 Turner St Northampton, he is a Army Pensioner and Hall Attendent, M. Hannah 4 Kids. Attested WW1 30 Sept 1914 age 55, No.3/10084 6th Northants, later No.179867, transferred 16th Middlesex 1 Sept 1916, transferred Labour Corps 28 April 1917, the last date [poss final discharge] 2 march 1919 heis in the 337th Home Service Workers Coy at Chatham Kent. James dies June Qtr 1920 age 61, in Northampton District. Rai Keynshamlighthorse. |
