Awkward to assess this from my current location. However, a couple of things jar with me. Infantry Militia in Yorkshire went up to six units, rather than seven.

The 4th West Yorkshire Militia were headquartered in Leeds, there was Brevet Major - substantive rank Captain - & Adjutant H. A. Burton, formerly of the 14th (Buckinghamshire) Regiment.

So at least a couple of variations from the newspaper report.

George Arthur [and in later records Jackson] Burton birth record march Qtr 1852 Howden East Riding of Yorkshire District. On the 1891 census Portsea rtd Major M.to Elizabeth 3 children all born Leeds Yorkshire, He married Elizabeth Ann Ellis 9 Sept 1880 Christchurch Crewe Cheshire. He possibly remarries in 1901 and 1906 both in Sussex. But not much else.
