The Zulus get to close and the Bugler sounds the retreat.

The Guns are retreating, but are still being attacked by Zulus, a wounded member of the Royal Artillery is being transported guarded by a comrade using his revolver.

Save those Guns!, members of the 24th come to the aid of the hopless attempt to escape.

Lt Vereker tries to make his escape, moments before he gives up the horse to the trooper to who it belongs.

A Private loads his last round as the Thin Red Line breaks...

With their amunition expended, a Private and Officer are overwhelmed quickly

Pockets of resistance, try to survive the attack as the Zulus mass around them.

The Zulus finally overwhelm the last few pockets of resistance late in the battle.

Lt Melville saving the colours at Isandlwana...

The Flag is given to Melville and ordered to get to Rorkes Drift.

Also rallying the men as it passes through the camp.

Melville, assisted by Vereker charge through the large numbers of Zulu, getting out of the camp.

Passing through the camp, Melville and Vereker see the brave attempt to stay alive by many members of the 24th, rallying them to keep fighting as they passed through.

After losing his horse, Melville has no other option but to stand and fight, trying to protect the colours.

The Zulus kept getting closer, he finds no time to reload his revolver and it ends as he is about to be over whelmed....

And finally, The flag in the River, where it should have been...

Nice one Joe, small point, Vereker didnt leave the battlefield, the horse he was riding was claimed by the owner. Vereker gave up the horse and thats, I believe, the last that was heard of him.

Greetings everyone!

An update of Isandlwana, this time the Last Stand and Charge of Younghusbands C Company...

The company forms the defensive line around Isandlwana

The Zulu getting ever closer, Younghusband leads his men in a bayonet charge against the enemy

Surrounded and heaviy outnumbered, the brave men fight on as more and more Zulus join the attack

Causualties mount on both sides, as the conflict slowly comes to an end

The last man in the charge dies, as a hero, along with the rest of his company, much respected by the Zulus.

And finally (just been messing around here) Merry Christmas to everyone! :lol!: :lol!: and Have a happy New Year!

thanks joe
