Due to recent events on this forum, we have now imposed a zero tolerance to harassment and bullying. All reports will be treated seriously, and will lead to a permanent ban of both membership and IP address.
Any member blatantly corresponding in a deliberate and provoking manner will be removed from the forum as quickly as possible after the event.
If any members are being harassed behind the scenes PM facility by any member/s here at 1879zuluwar.com please do not hesitate to forward the offending text.
We are all here to communicate and enjoy the various discussions and information on the Anglo Zulu War of 1879. Opinions will vary, you will agree and disagree with one another, we will have debates, and so it goes.
There is no excuse for harassment or bullying of anyone by another person on this site.
The above applies to the main frame areas of the forum.

| There is a mention of him here. So yes he did serve during the Zulu War.

| Lieutenants M G Moore, D T Hammond, D J N Webb , C E Wyncoll, A G G Elton, E H V Haldane and F S H Rickards served with the Regiment throughout its various operations in the Zulu War. |

Lieutenant Edward Henry Vere Haldene, 88th Foot £2,450.00 "Edward Henry Vere Haldene was born 11th December 1857. First saw service with the Royal Monmouth Engineers Militia and enlisted in 1876, as a Sub- Lieutenant. 2nd Lieutenant.1st May 1878. Bombay Staff Corps 19th October 1882, Q. master 9th April 1883, died 20th July 1886 aged 30 at Barreilly, India.
Makinnon & Shadbolts South African Campaign of 1879 lists 2nd Lieutenant Haldane and states that he served with the 88th regiment (Connaught Rangers) throughout its various operations in the Zulu War. The Regimental History by Jourdain & Fraser has a named photo of 14 officers of the regiment at Fort Tenedos including Lieutenant Haldane" " |
