Pte. Speddy fought in the major battle of the Gingindlovu with the Argyll Highlanders, which was a part of the Eshowe Relief Column under Lord Chelmsford. This engagement took place on 2nd April 1879 and here, unlike all the other regiments involved, all 8 companies of the 91st Foot were present.

Pte. Speddy fought in the major battle of the Gingindlovu with the Argyll Highlanders, which was a part of the Eshowe Relief Column under Lord Chelmsford. This engagement took place on 2nd April 1879 and here, unlike all the other regiments involved, all 8 companies of the 91st Foot were present. They formed the southern face of the British Laager and repulsed a determined Zulu attack during the day, killing approximately 250 of the enemy.

Hi all .
Dixon's Medals had Speddy's Medal for sale on the 18 / 8 / 09 for 495 Pds , condition given as EF ( Extra Fine ) it was sold before 8 / 11 / 09 .
