Glazbrook, J., Royal Navy, Zulu War (H.M.S. Shah), 1879. Can anyone confirm.

Yes he is listed on the Medal Roll as a Domestic Class Two.

Domestic 2nd Class James Glazbrook

Born around 1853

During the Zulu War he served on HMS Shah as a Domestic 2nd Class, at the age of 26, but he was not a member of the Naval Brigade from that ship. He was entitled to the South Africa Medal without clasp.

On the 1881 Census he was listed as an Engineer’s Cook serving on HMS Malabar (Troopship), born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, age 28.

From 1919 to 1936 his name appeared in Australian Newspapers as a Veteran of the Zulu War (HMS Shah) present at reunions and other events. In 1836 he is listed as a veteran of the Zulu War and Egypt 1882.

His date of death is unknown, but I did not find his name in Austalian Newspaper past 1936.
