Long service and Good Conduct stripes were awarded to qualifying privates and lance - corporals ,to a maximun of seven badges,for 2,5,12,18,21 and 26 years' service...

One small question I have in mind to start the year ...

Very well, but to become holder of these Long Service and Good Conduct stripes, it had to have 2,5,12,18,21 or 26 years' service of war or campaign ?

Or you could receive the Long Service and Good Conduct stripes in remaining at the bottom of a barracks of London during 2,5,12,18,21 or 26 years? ...

These awards are for just what they are called - long service and good conduct. It is relative to the length of time in service and are not affected by campaign service etc
