Episode 2: The Zulu Kingdom (6th Feb)
"Art historian Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford travels to South Africa to explore the history of one of Africa’s most famous kingdoms. Visiting some of the most evocative sites in Zulu history, he examines the origins of the Zulu in the 17th century, their expansion under controversial military leader King Shaka, and their brutal encounters with the Boers and the British. He also searches for the secrets behind the Zulus’ cultural power and legendary military strength – and why Zulu identity continues to endure."

Thanks Bill. I can see why you say catch the early one.

Absolutely brilliant . One of the best program's yet. Good to see Ken Gillings giving an in-sight into the Battle of Blood River. The original photographs was of course the icing on the cake.

Agree with you there Admin.

I wouldn't mind have this photo's of the Zulu's in the Diamond Mines.

I was quite happy to see, that today,it is reconised that the whole lead up to the Zulu war was manufacture by the British and that the Zulu's of today are proud of what their ancestors did at Isandlwana. The same as we are of our chaps a RD. ect. Salute

Hi all

Yes indeed. I think the highlight was when the presenter asked Dalton (Lindizwe Ngobese - tourist guide at the Isandlwana Lodge) why the Zulu kingdom fought so hard against apparently insurmountable odds, he replied "Well, it is the only kingdom we've got!"

If you didn't get to see it, watch out for repeats. The camerawork is stunning.

He's right. Certainly gave a good perspective from the Zulu Side. At the end of the day it was all about "Gold & Diamonds" and greed. For those that watched it. Can you remember the names of those two white fellows that found the diamond.
