PostSubject: Fred SYMONS / Natal Carbineers   Fred SYMONS / Natal Carbineers EmptyWed Jul 30, 2014 11:19 pm

Bonsoir à tous,
I research information and photography of the trooper Fred SYMONS of the Natal Carbineers who was with CHELMSFORD on the 22 January 1879.
I do like his journal (Symons papers / Talana Museum quoted in "Zulu Rising" by Ian Knight")
Merci pour votre aide.

Cheers.

Frédéric

Frederic

The Talana Museum sells the booklet:
Anglo-Zulu War Diaries: Trooper Fred Symons, Natal Carbineers: Enthusiasm and Misgivings, 1879.
by Mark Coghlan.

It may contain more information than that quoted by Ian Knight.

Regards
Brett

Bonjour Brett,
You can find a photograph of Fred SYMONS (with a group of others Carbineers) in "The Journal of the AZRS" (Chairman John Young) volume 3 issue n°2 p.29 (ed. 1995).
"Experiences of a Natal Carbineer in the Zulu War" (part II).
Photo Paul Naish Collection.

Cheers.
