Frankum 94th of foot Empty
PostSubject: Frankum 94th of foot   Frankum 94th of foot EmptyTue Dec 21, 2010 5:37 pm

Hello,

First time post,
I have been Researching my 2x Great Grandfather Frederick Frankum from Reading who i know was in the Army but did not know alot else about his Army career.

In the 1871 Census he was at 94th Regiment Of Foot, And Depot 45th Foot, Centre Block, Infantry Barracks, Aldershot .

And the next information i found about him was UK, Military Campaign Medal and Award Rolls, 1877-1879 South Africa 94th Regiment Frederick Frankum no :1569

I Cant seem to find anything else about his Army records and he is not on the 1881 Census so i guess he was still in the Army.
He married in 1882 and started his Family in England.

Being an x military man myself ( Glorius Gloster) I am really Interested in finding anything i can about his service or the 94th Regiment.

Any information would be a big help to me piecing his life together.
Thank you.

Thank you for this information,

I really Appreciate you looking, I guess my next step is trying to get his Service records if they are not Destroyed.

And if they are then as much info i can about the 94th.

He Must of left the Army about 1882 , He married in Dec 1882 and went on to have 11 children the 4 sons he had all went into the Army. He died in 1936 aged 86.

I think getting a copy of Reminiscences Of An Officer in 1879 Zulu War. By Captain Montague his memoir tells of his services with the 94th regiment of foot.would be a good book to get if i can get my hands on it.
