| [b]This is a leave request from the Prince Imperial as a cadet at Woolwich on 4 April, 1873. The request is signed by the Prince as Napoleon (His father, Napoleon III, died in January 1873) in period ink in his hand. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.](Isandula Collection)

| Well done FLYNN.. your fondness for Zulu Dawn comes over loud and clear, some figures are easily recognisable, of course!. Durnford, Melvill.. and i particularly like the image of Sgt William's handing out chastisement.. puts me in mind of the famous image of the battle of Little Big Horn, nice one, lot's of detail. cheer's xhosa2000 |

| I have no idea why, they don't look like it, the colors aren't as muted, but I keep thinking of the 'Rent Collector'. Probably my favorite painter of all time. That FLYNN is probably the biggest compliment I can give you. |

| Sounds funny, I didn't knew this Lowry ( I understand he was also a rent collector), I took a look at his paintings and I appreciate them...I often show drawings about the Little Big Horn and U.S Civil War on an other forum (Civilwartalk), and some people there mentionned the art of "Grandma Moses", another renowed artist I didn't knew. I'm actually on a Rorke's Drit drawing, you'll be the first to see it when it's done. |

| I really love these drawings.
The drawing style is very detailed so each scene or a lot of details can be identified / seen.
They are crowded but not as much that they get unclear.
I would like to see more of them and I a much bigger scale! |

| The main trouble with zulu war drawings is to reach a good color for the African's skin, without loosing the deetails of the faces if using a too dark color, what doesn't happen with pink flesh color. An other problem was the fire and flames, they don't look good...and so is the ground. |
