Lt.Colonel C. E. W. Roworth served with the 80th Regiment in the Perak E.xoedition in   1876 (Medal with Clasp).  Served with the 80th Regiment in the Zulu war of 1879. Commanded the District of Lydenburg, Transvaal, from 2nd February till April 1879, and again from June till October,  and acted as Ordnance Officer at Lydenburg from Jan to December 1879 (Medal with Clasp).

Capt .C.E.W.Roworth 80th Regt served on detachment in the Transvaal during the Zulu war , Capt Roworth being in temporary command of 3 Co's in the Leydenburg Distict .
