"Mr James Learny, Fulham's oldest ex-soldier, who served with the 17th Lancers in the Zulu War, has died Aged 81."

Daily Herald - Monday 18 September 1922

In the 1911 census he is shown as James Learny, a 69 year old widower born in Manchester and living with the Freidlander-Brown family at 137 Hurlingham Road Fulham S W, Fulham, London & Middlesex

Dutton has his surname  spelt slightly differently 1329 Leamey J 1879 clasp (p206)

Another spelling of his surname along with the cause of death.

"A verdict of accidental death wae recorded at an inquest at Fulham on James Mearney (81), formerly commissionaire. Mearney, who served with the 17th Lancers in the Zulu War, fell out of bed and struck his head in the fireplace"
