Another mystery claim to the Zulu War

Hi all

I came across this fellow, Can anyone proved any information as to the claim he was is the Zulu War.

Hi 1879Graves.
I went through all the colonial units in the Medal Roll and found 4 with the surname of
Atwell , none however with the initials R.S.L . Suspect

Well this one certainly is a mystery. I found the same as 90th. But is spelled Atwell Your Attwell has 2 T’s

1879Graves. Spend sometime on this chap. Can't find anything. Only what the others have found. What was your source.

He looks similar to Dunn.

Your man is Robert St. Leger Attwell, born 11 Feb 1849, Victoria East, Cape Colony, South Africa; died 1907, Benoni, Transvaal, South Africa.

I found a snippet of a book "From Manifesto to Trial", on Google Books, with the following:

"Robert St. Leger Attwell was next called. The State Attorney : ... Attwell, are you, or were you, Colonel of the Africander Brigade '. Witness : I do not remember being Colonel of any corpis of that name. Well, any other corps ? ..."

That's all I could read. I don't have access to the actual book. Maybe someone out there is familiar with the book. I think it had something to do with Jameson's Raid.

I didn't see anything about the Zulu War.

James Attwell Snr was born on 27 Mar 1807 in Toddington, Bedfordshire, England. He was baptized on 17 Apr 1807 in Toddington, Bedfordshire, England. He died on 21 Oct 1888 in "Battlesden" Farm, Nr Alice, Victoria East, South Africa. James married Susan [Susanna] Parr on 27 Mar 1832.
Land He resided in "Battlesden" Farm, Tyumie River, nr Alice, Cape Colony. The image is close to "Battlesden" Farm, Tyumie River, nr Alice, in the distance is the orginal Lovedale Mission..

The Attwell and McMaster families, Attwell and McMaster family. (3 May 2007). "35 M viii. Robert (Bob) St Leger Attwell was born on 11 Feb 1849 in Victoria East, Cape, South Africa.. He died in 1907 in age 58 Benoni.
4 children names not known
One of the first Johannesburg pioneers.
Robert married Kate Combe." Who was born about 1855 in Cape Colony, South Africa. She died in 1940. Kate married Robert "Bob" St Ledger Attwell about 1877

Another claim to the Zulu War. Solved. Nice one to all concern. Its a pity we can't put the Butler Mystery to bed.
