Lt.-Col. Hon. George Aubrey Vere Bertie was born on 2 May 1850.1 He was the son of Montagu Bertie, 6th Earl of Abingdon and Elizabeth Lavinia Vernon-Harcourt. He married Harriet Blanche Elizabeth Farquhar, daughter of Sir Walter Rockcliffe Farquhar, 3rd Bt. and Lady Mary Octavia Somerset, on 13 October 1885. He died on 8th November 1926 at age 76. Served in the Zulu Wars 1879. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Coldstream Guards.
