Hi my name is Diane Sutton I live in Western Australia and Private Samuel Wassall is my great grandfather.
I had the opportunity to go to the regimental museum in 2000 when I visited the U.K, it was a wonderful experience to find out about my great grandfathers deed as I have grown up with the movies Zulu and Zulu Dawn.
I had seen a picture of him and to see the articles about him in the museum was fantastic.

I would like to make contact if at all possible with my cousins on the Wassall side of the family as I have never met any of them. My Grandmothers name was Florence Sutton (nee Wassall). If we can chat through this site it would be wonderful.

Sam was a great man and he definitely deserved his Victoria cross and I look up to him. Thank you very much for letting me join this site. Diane Sutton

Hi Diane
Sam lived two houses away from my great grandfather in Barrow in Furness. Last year when I was in the UK I traced some local descendants and also photographed the grave and the house he lived in. There are a couple of websites with information on the family. If you like me to send the info I have then pm me an address and I can forward.

Frank
