| Hi All, Not sure about this??? James Alfred Rorke 1827-1875 is actually buried at Rorkes Drift in a seperate grave [appears on findagrave website][ he was also a Lt in the Buffalo Border Guard] James Michael Rorke could be a son but unlikely to have given his name to the drift, Iam sure Ian Knight wrote on this subject in the VMS Magazine Soldiers of the Queen many years ago. | Hi All
b4. James Rorke (b1801 d1859) James came to South Africa with his brothers as single men in 1823. He married 'unknown' in South Africa and they had 1 child: James Alfred Rorke (b1827) They are the Rorke's of Rorke's Drift in KwaZulu, Natal, South Africa.
See: stamouers.com - South Africas Stamouers if googling James Michael Rorke.
James Michael Rorke (b 28 June 1852) being the son of James Alfred Rorke (b1827) above.
See: Geni.com / 1820 Settlers
James Michael Rorke was an advisor to the Zulu Chieftain UHamu KaNzibe half-brother and rival of King Catshwayo.
Wikipedia
The newspaper article above is naming the wrong James as it was his father who established the trading post and is buried there having committed suicide there in 1875.
