Just reading a thread where forum member John mentioned putting a model up for auction. So was wondering if we could start a auction section on the forum. I would imagine we all have some kind of Zulu war artefacts that we could move on for whatever reason. Ie books ect perhaps Neil's rifles..
Auction. The Last Friday of every month. Between 18:30 21:00.
Just an idea. Be interested in feedback on this.

Seriously Dave, a great idea, but I just think you'd get highter prices in the open market, dare I say, even ebay. Lots of members on here who have very sharp eyes for anything interesting that comes on to the market in the various shops and auction houses.

I do like the cncept of us helping each other spot things at the auctions etc - we are probably looking for different things anyway for our collections.
I am sure members couod pointus in teh right sdirection. eg I am sure Ritchie has a good idea where we coud source quality models etc.
Neil is brilliant in firerarms. For instance my current golden fleece is an 1868 pattern lance. Not sure how MrsD will react to that arriving instead of her Jimmy Choos!!
We cab cakk the section the Zulu Detective!!
Again just thinking ut loud !!
BTWIf you have the odd ance lying around please let me know

Gee whizz fellas, you with your lance, Martin with his Martini Henry, Neil with his arsenal, although Neil is a pro to be fair.
Reminds me of the old Pink Floyd track: "Careful with that axe, Eugine!"
Mrs Tasker224 allows me to indulge myself with my old Swiss army knife. (Needs a new toothpick though, might have to put my foot down and get a new one).

when I say Golden fleece - i mean an unobtainable quest - I just have not been able to find one. So if anyone has a spare 1868 pattern lance lying around please let me know.
Having said that I have always convinced MrsD that if we came across burglars I think I could put the fear of God into them - i can imagine they would be quick to depart when faced with a MH plus bayonet - or maybe an axe spear combo..
If I had that lance our security would be complete - not sure she buys that.

Hi Sergio . I have seen one this year for sale but please dont ask where ! . Possibly it was Bid or Buy Sth Africa's answer to Ebay . It was quite expensive as one would think . I'm not sure of the year but fairly positive it was 1860's or thereabouts . I'll try and have a search in the next day or so . Cheers 90th.

Thanks 90th - i had seen the Ashokaats one - it is exactly what I am looking for.
I have seen one in auction - but it was after the auction date. there have been a couple around but always later patterns.
I even have a space on the wall that has been left for it !!
I spoke to a couple of the usual arms dealers(mmmm that is antique arms dealers if GCHQ are monitoring this site  ) who say they dont tend to buy them as the transportation is such an issue.
One day!! If any members have any suggestions please let me know!!
