[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] The somewhat disorderly Orderly Room of the 90th L.I. circa 1873 John Young Collection.
The shorter officer standing at the centre of the table is Captain (later Lt.-Colonel) William Rennie, V.C., who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions on 21st & 25th September 1857 at Lucknow, during Sepoy Mutiny.
Thus far I have identified two officers who served in Zululand:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Joseph Henry Laye. Lieutenant & Adjutant 90th L.I. in 1873.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Apsley Cherry. Captain 90th L.I. in 1873.
I'd welcome any other suggestions as to the other officers' identities, if anyone has any?

A very beautiful present for a collector! I am really crazy about this typical Victorian's table !!!( with the armories/blazon of the 90th L.I just above the "tray"?)
I know, it's not a good joke... Most seriously, thank you for having sharing this photo with us (I am not sure of the translation:Je vous remercie d'avoir partagé cette photo avec les membres de ce forum). Kind regard.
Frédéric.
I.E1: Congretulation Mister Young, Frédéric with two "é"!!! I.E2; I can't see Walter Higginson on your photo

I'm thinking "Apsley Cherry" is standing to the left of " A. M. Maude" ?

Littlehand,
No Cherry isn't in the Dover photograph, that is why I wanted the other photograph. Cherry had the Mutiny Medal, the figure you have pointed out doesn't have a medal.

90th,
22nd November 2003 Telstra Stadium surely even you as non-rugby man remember that one?
Or the British & Irish Lions on 6th July 2013 at ANZ Stadium?
Enough, now back on topic.
There are three, maybe four, officers in the Orderly Room photograph unidentified.
The officer behind Laye has at least one, possibly two medals up. I would venture that might be Capt. Randall Ironside Ward, who served in the Royal Navy in the Crimean War. British Medal and the Turkish Medal.
The officer standing behind Cherry's right shoulder may be Lt. Welby, which would make him and Laye, the only ones to appear in both photographs.
That leaves four other officers unaccounted for: Lieutenants F. R. Harvey & E. Lethbridge; Sub-Lt's. W. Hutchinson & W. Hawley. Anyone got any of their photographs to compare?

Hi John
Many thanks for reposting the photograph.
I am still at a loss, which one is Capt. Randall Ironside Ward?

Andy,
Look at the close-up of Laye and the Bugler, there’s an officer behind Laye with at least one medal ribbon up. I surmise that might be Ward.
