Help what rifle HM Mk? pattern? bayonet? was issued to Royal Artillery 5th Brigade (N battery) during the AZW 1879?

Reason being there is a HM mkII (MK1 without notch?) carbine in the orientation centre St. Vincent stating found at Isandlwana? If so his is a rare item on record only 40 were sent out to the Cape in 1878(7)? Durnford's men the Edendale Horse were issued with "carbines"? but the carbine was also for artillery?

Paul,

I’m away from my books at present N/5 had a small number of Snider carbines at the start of the campaign. Sorry I can’t be more specific, off the top of my head I believe it is two carbines per artillery piece.
