| For over 15 years I have been researching the Royal Navy’s involvement in the Zulu War. During this time I have accumulated numerous firsthand accounts from naval and marine officers and men. Most of the information is from diaries, journals, letters, and newspaper accounts from correspondents who were with the coastal column. As a result, I am in the process of completing a book on the Zulu War from the navy’s point of view. There are a few more journals and diaries that I hope to obtain photocopies of. I am looking for someone who lives near the National Maritime Museum at Greenwich, and another who is close to the Royal Naval Museum at Portsmouth, to obtain copies of one journal and one diary.
If anyone can help me, send me a private message.

| Tom, I know you have been researching for many years now, and you have always been a great help on the site with your knowledge on navy related matters, so I do hope that you will find someone who can help you out with the journals and diaries. If I lived down that way, I would volunteer to help you, however, I am up in the North West and am many miles away from either Greenwich or Portsmouth, so too far away to assist you. I wish you all the best with the book Tom, please let us all know when it will be available, I would really enjoy having a good read of it. Best Regards. |

| Mr. M. Cooper,
I hope I find someone also. So far, I have had no luck, but I am a patient man.

| Hi Tom,
Whilst also NW based I do travel to london on a regular basis, I could certainly venture to Greenwich on your behalf. I was also involved in HMS Victory’s renovations when they started pre covid and still have a number of friends/contacts there.
Please feel free to drop me a message and if I can assist I will happily do so.
Cheers Gavin |
