Note: He had been transferred at Esquilmalt from HMS Rocket to HMS Shah on 26 July 1877 as an invalid for passage to England. Transferred from HMS Shah to Haslar on 11 July 1879. '2nd. It may be presumed that he died the previous day, 20 Aug, although there is no entry in the Log. 'Captain's Crew' in Times entry. Ship's Log 11 Sep. [Vancouver Island]. - 7pm. Sold by auction the effects of the late Jas. Hunter Carps Crew.

Petty Officer 1st. Class John Poor - Ship's Log 5 Jan. 1878. [Tahiti to Concepcion] - 6.25am. Departed this life Jno. Poor aged 32 (Capt. F.C.). 5.20pm. Committed the body of the late John Poor (CFC) to the deep. Expended 40 rounds of blank cartridge. 'Captain Forecastle' in Times entry.

Leading Seaman Henry Bryan - Ship's Log 28 May 1878. [At Acapulco] - Departed this life Henry Bryan (Ldg. Seaman) aged 23 years. 4.40pm. Sent funeral party to inter the remains of the late Henry Bryan. Expended 40 rounds of blank cartridge. 'Leading Stoker' in Times entry.

Chief ERA John W. Fillmore - Service Papers. Died 13 April 1879 at Simons Bay Hospital. Had transferred whilst at Esquilmalt from HMS Rocket as an invalid on 26 July 1878. Transferred from HMS Shah to HMS Tamar 1 April 1879 for passage to Simons bay Hospital.

Private Levi Pritchard - No confirming details found to suggest this was Private Levi Pritchard on the Medal Roll and not Private John Pritchard. No other man named Pritchard on Roll.

Chief Petty Officer James Eade - Service papers. Drowned at sea 7 August 1879. Had transferred at Coquimbo to HMS Triunph on 2 December 1878. 'C.B.M' (Chief

Able Seaman Aaron Long - Ship's Log 21 Oct. [At Portsmouth] - Dragged till 12.30am to endeavour to recover body of Aaron Long (AB). 6am. Found Aaron Long (AB) 154 on SB list 5 missing. He had fallen overboard between ship's side and jetty the previous day.
