| Can the Victoria Cross can it be awarded more than once to the same person. Or is the VC only awarded once in a life time.
What could a person who already has a VC expect if he carryout another act of valour. Would it be just of monetary value, Rank or both.
If the VC has been awarded twice does anyone know who by and when. |

| Little hand. Not sure. I don't think the VC can be awarded twice to the same person. It the highest award for Valour one can receive. It would most probably be monetary value and rank.
I also believe if the person would had been awarded a VC got into trouble with the Law he would have forfeited his VC. So I’m not sure if the person who forfeited his VC would be allowed another if he had committed another act of valour. Probably yes. But I don’t know of any.
Hope this helps. |

| I’m entirely convinced. I do believe it is possible to win the Victoria Cross more than once. I don’t think its possible in the same action. Or even in the same war.
But with reference to 24th pointing out the forfeiture of the Victoria Cross for serious crimes against the law in.
In 1920, King George V expressed his displeasure with VC erasures, his Private Secretary stating in a letter the King's view that:
"no matter the crime committed by anyone on whom the VC has been conferred, the decoration should not be forfeited. Even were a VC to be sentenced to be hanged for murder, he should be allowed to wear his VC on the scaffold." |

| Three men have been awarded the VC and bar (as a second award is known ). ARTHUR MARTIN - LEAKE , awarded VC in 1902 and bar in 1914 CHARLES HAZLITT UPHAM , awarded VC in 1941 and bar in 1942 NOEL GODFREY CHAVASSE , awarded VC in 1916 and bar in 1917 when he died on wounds received . also try this link; [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Gary. |

| Thanks Gary. So the next award for Valour for those already awarded the VC is the bar. Then I expect if yet another act of valour was untaken by a VC and bar holder, he would get another bar and so on. Ps Thanks for the link. |
