What a wonderful night that would have been, the stories and events they would have shared. I am amazed by the effort of Mr Norten who cycled for 4-5 days to get to the Reunion. Fantastic !! Salute

Just watched the film on your post, I loved the mounted band !! Never seen one before, it reminds me of our Anzac Day March held every year on 25th April to mark the landing at Gallipoli in Turkey in 1915. Not as elaborate but just as important in our short military history. Salute

thanks gentlemen for the replies. there were always military reunions around when i was younger. now, not so much.

In 1911 the Nottingham and Notts Crimean and Indian Mutiny Veterans Association organised a dinner to celebrate the coronation of King George V. Recently I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of the book presented to the veterans listing all the attendees, which includes veterans going right back to the Crimean War and up to the Boer War. There were 32 Zulu War veterans in attendance and I attach the page which covers the 17th Lancers as an example. Lots of potential for research here as the date coincides with the 1911 census. Many happy hours lie ahead!
