Hi All,
Cannot find any military records before the First World War, when he joined the Camerons, later he was transferred to the Labour Corps as a acting Captain. He died in April 1937 and is buried in Newton Abbot Cemetery, Devon.

Hi All

The article refers to him being a member of the Cape mounted Police and fought in the Zulu war. This would suggest that he did not serve in the ZULU WARS 1877-78-79 as the Cape mounted Police were not formed until 1882.

I have looked at the Natal Mounted Police during the Zulu war. There was a J H T Robinson that was a member of Sir Garnet Wolesley's Escort July 1879. Search Natal Mounted police on Facebook, you will find it.

Regards Eddie

Eddie,

According to the late Terry Sole’s research:
ROBINSON J H T   From Hadleigh, Suffolk.  Attested 10/06/1879.  Age 18.  Discharged 30/11/1886.

Given his period of service with the Natal Mounted Police, it does not correspond with the alleged military service of this subject.

Just my thoughts.

Hi John

Of course, that's what I was referring to. I was highlighting the fact that there was only one Robinson in any Mounted Police unit.
I was not referring him to the subject in the article, just pointing out that there was only one.
