Natal Witness 24th October 1879
Mary Theobald whose only son, a private in the 24th Regiment who was killed at the battle of Isandhlwana committed suicide on September 12th by throwing herself into the River Lea, London. She had for some time previously been in the workshouse at Edmonton.
