Two recent acquisitions:

A Sergeant, pre-1881 wearing a full dress tunic.

An officer below field rank in patrol jacket and forage cap, post-1874 & pre-1880.

Note that the sergeant wears his chevrons on both sleeves, and that he wears his sash over the left shoulder, rather than over the right. The origin of that tradition dates back to the Battle of Culloden, 16th April 1746.  Then styled Pulteney's Regiment with all of their officers killed or mortally wounded, what was left of the regiment had to be brought out of the battle by the sergeants who assumed the roles of their officers.
