The Llandudno Advertiser started on the 11th April 1885 and ceased publication in 1997. The title is still owned by Trinity Mirror (due to their acquisition of the North Wales Independent Press which owned the North Wales Weekly News Group)and there is a Limited Company Llandudno Advertiser Ltd still in existence.

It was printed at 133 Upper Mostyn Street from 1885 till 1975. Its owner, William 'Zulu' Smith, was a veteran of the Zulu War of 1879 and had printed an occasional Llandudno News Sheet from 3rd May 1882.

Hi All and Admin

You ask the question "Did he take part in the Zulu War", now that is one hell of a question with a common name like "W SMITH"

What I can tell you is that there were 57 "W Smith's" listed as taking part in the Zulu War.
There are 5 "W Smith's" listed from the 24th Regiment taking part in the Zulu War.

The problem I have is that with little information about a regiment, it is hard to find out if he did take part. scratch

Not sure if this is the same chap. But it also appears he wrote a book.
