"Thomas Augustus (Canada) Le Mesurier born 22.9.1837 in Quebec, Canada. Circa 1863 = (1) Lucy Evelyn Darling born 1845 in Nassau, Bahamas. December 1890 at Easingwold = (2) Jane Maria Slinger. Lucy died 1886 in Kensington London. Jane died 4th Qtr 1903 in Kensington, London. Joined Comm. Dept. in 1855 and was retired from the A S Corps in June 1889. Promoted Lt. Col 11.12.1888 Kaffir War 1878, Zulu War 1879, Boer War 1881 in charge of Commissariat and Transport. At defence of Pretoria. Wrote “Feeding of Fighting Armies” (See letter in “Times” of 7.10.1904) Thomas died 13.8.1906 in Dinard, Brittany."
